Fiji Visa Information
Visitors who do not need visas can get permits on arrival to stay for up to four months; these may be extended to up to six months. You must have a valid passport, an onward or return air ticket and adequate funds for your stay. To renew visas you must go directly to the immigration office in Suva - don't expect to accomplish this task over the phone from your hotel.
Visas are not required for citizens of Commonwealth countries, or for nationals of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Indonesia, the Republic of Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Nauru, the Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Tunisia, the USA, Germany and Western Samoa.
Nationals or citizens of other countries require visas unless their stay in Fiji does no exceed three hours.
Passports and visas are not required by people who transit Fiji directly by the same ship or aircraft. (The term 'ship' does not include yacht.)
The conditions for a visitor's permit are (according to a government pamphlet):
...that while in Fiji he will not behave in a manner prejudicial to peace or good order, will not engage in any business, profession or employment whether for reward or not, except with the approval of the Permanent Secretary of Home Affairs, and will not engage in any religion, vocation, or research without the Permanent Secretary's approval. Permit may be subject to other conditions which the Permanent Secretary may impose.
